Welcome to Stour Fitness

Wherever you are on your fitness journey I can provide professional advice, guidance and support to help you achieve your goals.

Whatever your goal

You may be worried about your weight or concerned about how your lifestyle is impacting your health. Maybe you’re in training for a sporting event or preparing for a special occasion?

Whatever drives you, training with me will give you the encouragement and motivation you need to reach your goal and inspire you to make the change you’re looking for, and most importantly, maintain it long after your gym session or fitness class has finished.

How can i help?

My name’s Owen and I’m a fully qualified personal trainer and fitness instructor based in North Dorset. Using the facilities at Blandford Leisure Centre I can offer one-to-one gym, studio or outdoor based sessions; nutrition and healthy lifestyle advice; group exercise classes and even specialised martial arts training.

Personal Training

Personal Training

Fitness personalised for you

We’re all different, so right from our initial consultation I will listen to your individual needs, design you a personalised programme and provide tailored advice to meet your requirements. Once you’re training with me, regular reviews and fitness assessments allow us to measure your progress and for me to make appropriate tweaks and adjustments to keep you on track.

Ongoing support

Staying motivated is often the biggest barrier to reaching your goal. With one-to-one personal training you get continuous guidance and encouragement to keep you going, even when the going gets tough.

Train where you feel comfortable

You may enjoy the gym atmosphere; perhaps you prefer training in the privacy of a studio; maybe blowing the cobwebs away with an outdoors workout is more your thing.

I understand that it’s important to train in an environment that suits your goals and needs and where you feel comfortable. I can offer both gym and studio based personal training at Blandford Leisure Centre and, depending on your location, training sessions outside, at your work place or home.

Beyond the workouts

It’s not just about the time you spend with me. To help you outside of your personal training sessions I’ll supply exercise ideas and programming guidance so that you can better structure your own workouts, along with nutrition and healthy lifestyle advice to ensure you get the best results possible.

How much will it cost?

My personal training prices are based on sessions lasting 1 hour, with a discounted rate for block bookings. The more sessions you pay for in advance, the cheaper the hourly rate becomes.

One-To-One Training Prices

One-To-Two Training Prices

For those with a workout buddy who share your goals, I offer further discounted rates when you train with a friend.

Small Group/Other Training Prices

From running small group training classes for your club or workplace, to leading a warm-up at a one off event, I’m always happy to hear from you to discuss your requirements and provide a quote.

Group Exercise

Group Exercise

We're all in it together

Taking part in group exercise allows you to benefit from the support and motivation of working out with others, while perfectly complementing your individual training programme.

I cover a range of group exercise classes at Blandford Leisure Centre, including regular Group Cycling and HIIT sessions.

Group Cycling

Sprint, hill climb, jump and hover your way through an intense 45 minute Group Cycling class to torch calories and challenge your cardiovascular (CV) fitness.

Feel the burn!

Due to the high-intensity interval (HIIT) nature of these classes it’s estimated you can burn up to 450 calories per 30 min, how many do you think you could burn in 45 min?

Where and when

I teach Group Cycling on a Thursday morning between 9:15am-10:00am at Blandford Leisure Centre as part of their group exercise programme. To book a space, please contact the leisure centre directly, use the Everyone Active app or visit their website.

HIIT

One of my favourite ways to train and classes to teach, High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) involves short bursts of intense exercise followed by a period of rest or active recovery.

There’s no denying HIIT is blooming hard work, but with the potential to burn a large numbers of calories, improve your cardiovascular (CV) fitness and work on explosive muscle power all in a short period of time, there’s a reason it’s so popular.

You can't beat a burpee!

Although HIIT classes can include weights, steps and other pieces of equipment I prefer big, high energy bodyweight exercises to really get the heart rate up.

Where and when

Start your weekend with a bang by joining me for HIIT on a Saturday morning between 9:30am-10:30am at Blandford Leisure Centre. To book a space, please contact the leisure centre directly, use the Everyone Active app or visit their website.

Martial Arts Training

Martial Arts Training

From beginners who want to try a new sport, to experienced martial artists looking to hone their skills or for those who simply want a workout with a difference; as an experienced 3rd Dan Karate instructor I offer traditional Karate classes and private lessons.

Private Karate Lessons

Private Karate lessons give you a more focused individual training experience. Whether you’re looking for an introduction to Karate, need help working towards your next grade, want to learn a new Kata or are preparing for competition, I will tailor your one-to-one, one-to-two or small group lessons to match your requirements.

I can cater to both children (6+) and adults of any level of experience. I’m Enhanced DBS checked and have qualified in Adapting Exercise for Adolescents. I also have experience with training students who are on the spectrum.

My prices for private Karate lessons are the same as those for personal training.

Karate Classes

For traditional Karate classes my North Dorset based club Stour Karate offers both children (6+) and adults, from beginners to advance grades the chance to learn the skills of a martial art in a friendly and safe group environment, with the emphasis on respect, discipline and fun.

A Bit About Me

Owen Jones

My main hobby and interest is Karate. As well as running my own club Stour Karate I spend a lot of my spare time training, attend regular courses, squad sessions, competitions and seminars, continually striving to broaden and improve my knowledge of all aspects of martial arts.

Along with my interest in Karate comes a passion for fitness. I enjoy mountain walking, canyoning and taking part in extreme obstacle races. To maintain my fitness levels I have always regularly attended the gym and group exercise classes. All of which led me to retrain as a fitness instructor and personal trainer after spending far too long in a career that didn’t make me happy.

In 2015 I started Stour Fitness as an umbrella for my services as a personal trainer and fitness instructor.

It’s not all Karate and keep fit. I also enjoy playing the guitar and am an avid film buff. Well everyone needs to be a couch potato now and then!

The Important Stuff

As a fitness professional as well as enthusiast I’m constantly striving to develop my knowledge of the industry and gain new skills which I can use with my clients.

I hold recognised qualifications in all of the areas I teach and am a member of the two major UK fitness industry’s professional bodies.
